Journal Guide

Methodology is the successor of the two journals Metodologia de las Ciencias del Comportamiento and Methods of Psychological Research-Online (MPR-Online). All issues are still available at http://www.aemcco.org/ and www.dgps.de/fachgruppen/methoden/mpr-online/. Methodology is the official organ of the European Association of Methodology (EAM; www.eam-online.org), a union of methodologists working in different areas of the social and behavioral sciences (e.g., psychology, sociology, economics, educational and political sciences). The journal provides a platform for interdisciplinary exchange of methodological research and applications in the different fields, including new methodological approaches, review articles, software information, and instructional papers that can be used in teaching. Three main disciplines are covered: data analysis, research methodology, and psychometrics. The articles published in the journal are not only accessible to methodologists but also to more applied researchers in the various disciplines.

Methods focuses on rapidly developing techniques in the experimental biological and medical sciences.Each topical issue, organized by a guest editor who is an expert in the area covered, consists solely of invited quality articles by specialist authors. Issues are devoted to specific technical approaches with emphasis on clear detailed descriptions of protocols that allow them to be reproduced easily. Methods and Protocols (ISSN 2409-9279) is an international peer-reviewed open access journal aiming to establish and describe new experimental techniques in Biological and Medical sciences. M&Ps is published quarterly online by MDPI. The first issue will be released in 2018.

• Open Access free for readers, with article processing charges (APC) paid by authors or their institutions.
• High visibility: Citations available in PubMed, full-text archived in PubMed Central.
• Rapid publication: manuscripts are peer-reviewed and a first decision provided to authors approximately 19.9 days after submission; acceptance to publication is undertaken in 3.8 days (median values for papers published in this journal in the first half of 2019).

Methods of Information in Medicine publishes international, peer-reviewed, original research articles, reviews, editorials, and letters to the editor. Founded in 1962, it is the oldest and longest running journal in its field. The focus of the journal is on methods in health informatics, including public health and consumer informatics. We welcome submissions describing novel scientific methods for structuring, integrating, analysing, storing and visualising information as well as methods for system design, implementation and evaluation.

Methods X publishes the small but important customizations you make to methods every day. By releasing the hidden gems from your lab book, you can get credit for the time, effort and money you've put in to making methods work for you. And because it is open access, it is even more visible and citable, giving your work the exposure it deserves.

MethodsX provides an outlet for technical information that can be useful for others working in the same field, and help them save time in their own research, while giving you the deserved credit for your efforts. Since this is relevant for any field doing experimental work, MethodsX welcomes submissions from all research areas.

MethodsX puts the technical aspects of your work into the spotlight. Publish essential details of the tweaks you have made to a method, without spending time on writing up a traditional article, with detailed background and contextual information. Your MethodsX article showcases the work you've done to customize a method. It's that simple.

A MethodsX article features:

• an abstract to outline the customization
• a graphical abstract visual to illustrate what you've done
• the method(s) in sufficient detail to help people replicate it, including any relevant figures, tables etc
• up to 25 references to the original description of the method you're using

While keeping focused on the technical aspect of the work, evidence of the efficiency of the method and/or comparison with pre- existing protocols needs to be provided. This should be immediately evident to the reader.

Before submitting, please make sure your manuscript complies with the following criteria:

1. The article is written in standard English and clearly understandable
2. The manuscript adheres to the MethodsX format, see the http://www.elsevier.com/journals/methodsx/2215-0161/guide-for-authorsauthor guidelines
3. Control data supporting the claims made are included: evidence of the efficiency of the method and/or comparison with pre- existing protocols is provided
4. The method should describe a change over established practices

Note that manuscripts not adhering to the above points may be rejected without full peer review.
